Blanco’s oh-so-sweet works are made from 100% sugar
ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 6, 2014) – Colombian-American opera singer Mateo Blanco has entertained millions of people around the world through song. This month the singer will share another of his artistic talents when Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Orlando Odditorium unveils three of his paintings that the company has acquired. It’s Blanco’s unusual choice of media and amazing skill that caught the attention of Ripley’s; these works of art are made completely from sugar. His pop culture interpretations include The Hulk, Captain American and Iron Man, and Neytiri from the movie Avatar.
“I love art and sugar. So I decided to unify them into something positive,” said Blanco. “I want people to transform any situation into something positive and creative.”
Blanco was inspired by the works of art made to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi and he actually uses an ancient, historical technique.
The public and media are invited to the unveiling of Mateo Blanco’s paintings at Ripley’s Orlando Odditorium on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 am. Blanco will be there, along with Edward Meyer, Ripley’s VP of Exhibits and Archives and other Ripley’s representatives.
