Ripley’s hosts Marvel Super Hero visits as it launches new “Homespun Heroes” contest
Ocean City, Md. (May 23, 2017) – Ripley’s Believe It or Not!® attractions in Maryland are hosting a new event for some unbelievable summer fun – Ripley’s Superhero Summer!
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditoriums in Ocean City and Baltimore will host Marvel® characters throughout the summer, including Spider-Man!
In addition to hosting some of Marvel’s Super Heroes, Ripley’s will be recognizing real-life heroes and supporting local charities. Ripley’s is looking for nominations for its new “Homespun Heroes” contest that will recognize people who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their community.
Starting May 29, Ripley’s will choose one weekly winner who will win a private meet-and-greet with a character at one of the Marvel Super Hero visits at Ripley’s when available, as well as a lifetime pass to Ripley’s and other prizes! Homespun Hero nominations should be submitted here. Nominees can be adults or children. Ripley’s is looking for people who have made a difference in the quality of life for their community, school, or an individual! Check their Facebook page for a listing of Marvel Super Hero visits.
Ripley’s is also offering a $2,500 sweepstakes as part of Ripley’s Superhero Summer. This is open to anyone – all people need to do is enter any of Ripley’s Maryland attractions and enter the sweepstakes at the survey kiosk. The randomly selected winner will get $2,500 and a charity of their choice will also get $2,500! The sweepstakes will run through May 29, 2017 – September 4, 2017.
Ripley’s will also donate a portion of the proceeds from character appearance days to a local charity.

Ripley’s Superhero Summer character appearances are free with paid admission to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and are scheduled for the following dates for Ocean City:
- June 24 – Spider-man
- July 15 – Thor
- August 19 – Hulk
